Art Collider Academy (AC Academy) is an educational program offered by Art Collider Lab of the Center for Art Convergence, with the aim of cultivating creative talents in the field of convergence art. Based on the 'Approach - Design - Express - Narrate' process, AC Academy encourages a holistic approach and experimentation with contemporary media and formats that are in the spotlight in our era. In 2023, AC Academy is structured around two programs: 'Creation Planning,' which encourages contemplation of attitudes and artistic mindsets for convergence art creation, and 'Media Experimentation,' which explores the artistic utilization of various media.
In the first semester, the 'Creation Planning' program hosted the workshop <New Chat?: AI utilized Interactive Storytelling Creation Workshop>, where creators experimented with new ways to incorporate recent developments in artificial intelligence into their art. The program included two special lectures, delving into the limitations and applications of AI in art writing. Participants also engaged in hands-on production of Twine-based interactive storytelling content, experimenting with fusion thinking using game mechanics.
In the second semester, the <Mapping-Mapping: Projection Mapping Utilized Interactive Content Creation Workshop> under the 'Media Experimentation' section focuses on media experimentation with technology. The workshop's title, 'Mapping-Mapping,' underscores the close connection between the tool-oriented concept of 'mapping,' which structures ideas for visualization according to the creator's intentions, and the technical aspect of 'mapping,' which projects these mapped ideas into actual images.
Previous Educational Programs
From 2016 to 2022, Art Collider Lab ran a creative support program for interdisciplinary art projects on campus through an open call for proposals. The program provided various forms of support for experimental interdisciplinary art projects, including exhibitions and performances, as well as thematic lectures, planning workshops, media training, mentoring support, and archiving of presented works.
