"What will the post-COVID-19 'new normal' era look like?"
The education program <Team Learning> at Center for Art Convergence (Korea National University of Arts), which focuses on the convergence of art and technology, is designed to feature lectures, technical workshops, and project activities conducted by instructors from various fields. Participants engage in collaborative creation(team project), through co-working based on open source and sharing.
<Team Learning 2020: Another Future without [ ]>, conducted in the winter semester of 2020, explores the basics of technologies (block coding and physical computing) that can be used for creation with an emphasis on interactivity, 3D printing, the new normal era, and humans in the future. This team learning was conducted as blended learning that combines face-to-face (Art Collider Lab) and online (*via Mozilla Hub) training due to COVID-19. Therefore, it was composed of pre-recorded videos, real-time lecture, technical workshop, offline orientation, and project activities that combine both face-to-face meetings and virtual channels.
In the symposium sessions, we discussed “things that emerge and disappear” in the new normal era, “changes in virtue, taboo, aesthetics, and sense of beauty,” “the blurring gap and the intensified gap,” “augmented body,” “newly formed plaza and market and art.” We also talked about what we may lose or gain in the future. In the technical workshops, physical computing and sensor use, 3D modeling, and printing were practiced using mBlock, Micro:bit, FUSION 360. In the project activities, we tried to add sci-fi-like imagination to things that can be replaced or added to our lives in the new normal era with mentors.
