The Collaborative research among six colleges of K-ARTS Project aimed to develop a differentiated type of K-ARTS's convergence art model through research and development of convergence art education specific to each major and support for the production of convergence artworks in collaboration with faculty members from six schools. In particular, since the project was conducted during the coronavirus pandemic (2020-2021), we experimented with the use of various media to derive an alternative model of art education to overcome the problems caused by social distancing (limited number of people in performances, practical training, non-face-to-face, etc.). To this end, we conducted 'external collaboration projects' and 'seminars on technologies that we need to know right now' centered on K-ARTS' faculty members who have the capacity and willingness to create convergent arts. Finally, through 'short video contents' created by participating students, who are the biggest beneficiaries of the project, we aimed to communicate the current status of convergent arts on campus and the response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The '6 School External Collaboration Project' was a project conducted by Art Collider Lab in 2020-2021 in collaboration with K-ARTS' faculty members and external arts organizations or institutions to identify alternative models for arts education. We covered a wide range of mediums, from low-cost to high-cost technologies that we can use immediately, such as smart devices, VR, and visual programming.
The 'Technology based Convergence Art Seminar' aims to discover knowledge that can be applied to the characteristics of each of the six schools of K-ARTS and its majors through lectures by external experts in various fields, and to lay the foundation for the development of educational models. The seminar was held six times in an online, non-face-to-face manner.
'Adventure of Zero' is a series that explores the current state of convergence arts at Korea National University of Arts through interviews with students and faculty of various programs conducted by Art Collider Lab in 2020, especially under the six school collaborative research project.
