Introducing Alice Pottle of Pottleville, (perhaps Calais--still looking) Maine holding one of her sister's kittens!
In 1882, the Pottle family must have been the most prominent family in the area to have a village named after them.
Unfortunately, Google Maps cannot find Pottleville, so it appears the Pottle fame was short lived.
In any case, we are grateful for the notations on the back of this distinctive card (below). The card was printed by Clay & Richmond, Lithographers of Buffalo NY and copyrighted by J.D. Larkin & Co. of Buffalo.
