If you are uncertain of the appropriateness of the song please ask a Member Services Program Manager to check the song for you. Please keep all of these considerations in mind when creating a playlist. We want to provide you with an opportunity to create a fun environment, and we trust you to make these decisions!
We encourage you to include a diverse range of music in your playlists. A diverse playlist can help to create memorable experiences. Additionally, it's important to note that some artists use their music to support marginalized groups of various identities through the lyrics of their songs. One popular artist that is known for doing this is Lady Gaga who regularly supports the LGBTQIA+ community through her music. We can also play music from members of marginalized communities to support and show appreciation for their craft.
Volume of music is also vitally important in creating a welcoming and energetic environment. A Facility Supervisor should check each area for volume and make adjustments as needed. If a participant or other staff requests the volume to be turned up or down, please do so and the Facility Supervisor should check the area to support the volume for all members.
When Group Fitness classes are happening on the Quinn Group Fitness floor, turn the music to the floor off. Once Group Fitness classes are finished for the day you can turn it back on.
