If someone turns in a found item that is valuable, these are the following steps to take:
Retrieve the lost and found log and lock bag.
On the lost and found log, write the date and time.
Write a description of the item. For example, if the item found was an Appcard, write down "Appcard - Hannah Wright". If the item was jewelry or electronics (most commonly, airpods), describe the item to your best ability.
Ask the Facility Supervisor that is currently working to unlock the lock bag and write their initials. This ensures that the item is in the bag.
Make sure to successfully lock the lock bag and return it to its spot at the front desk.
If someone comes to the front desk, asking for an item that they lost, and it is in the lock bag, these are the following steps to take:
Check the lost and found log and see if the description the person is giving you, is the same description that was recorded.
Ask the Facility Supervisor to unlock the lock bag and retrieve the item.
Write down the result of the item. For example, "Returned to Hannah Wright at 5:24pm."
Have the Facility Supervisor write their initials, saying the item was returned.
Make sure to successfully lock the lock bag and return it to its spot at the front desk.
These items include shirts, bathing suits, shoes, water bottles, etc. Place these items in the card board box labeled lost and found. This is located in the the equipment room. If a person comes to the front desk asking for a non-valuable lost item, use gloves and look through the box for the item. If you find it, give it to the owner. Wash your hands or use sanitizer after digging through the lost and found box.
The items in the lock bag will be collected and taken to the main office often. If someone is trying to find an item in the lock bag and it is noted as having been turned in to the main office, send them to the front desk in the main office.
If someone comes to the front desk and is looking for an item that they lost, these are the following steps to take:
Check the Lost and Found log to see if the item has been turned in.
Since the item has not been turned in yet, have the participant fill out the Report of Lost Items log.
Have them put the date it was lost, the description of the lost item, and their contact information if the item is found.
If an item is turned in that matches the item reported on the Report of Lost Items Log, call the contact information that was provided and inform them that their item has been found.
