It is important that you familiarize yourself with the Evacuation Protocol so you will feel comfortable if you should ever need to use it.
Reasons we may need to evacuate the building include:
Fire
Gas Leak
Listen for a call on the radio indicating building must be evacuated
Make an announcement on the PA system
"There is an evacuation of the building. Please move to the nearest emergency exit and report across the street to the grassy area beside Walker Hall. I repeat, there is an evacuation of the building. Please move to the nearest emergency exit and across the street to the grassy area beside Walker Hall.”
Grab Red Bag.
Put on a yellow vest.
Grab the radio.
Exit the building.
Point participants in the direction of Walker Hall.
Your Responsibilities:
Pass attendance sheet around to participants
Fill out the Evacuation Checklist
Supervisors will radio you stating which area of the building is clear
Once they tell you an area:
Check off the area
Reply back to them "Copy, ______ all clear"
Ensure that every area has been checked off if the Supervisor states that the Building is all clear
If an area is not checked off, radio the supervisor telling them an area is not checked off
Wait for First Responders to tell you the next steps
We may periodically run drills to allow staff to practice the process and give suggestions on how we can improve upon it.
This is not a test, instead, it is just a practice!
