Our school qualifies again this year for school-wide Title 1 funding and services. Title 1 funding is additional funding that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Our Title 1 plan allows us to sponsor family involvement nights focused on how families can support their child’s learning in both reading/math and science via activities and strategies shared. We are also able to employ extra staff who serve students grades K-5 with interventions and extra support.
Each year, we provide three to four engaging family nights focused on connecting learning strategies that families can use at home to support their children. We will continue to host math, reading, and science themed nights across the year as well as our OpenMeeting (Back to School Fair). This year, our Title One funds will focus on hiring highly qualified teachers and tutors to serve our students. We have two Multi-Classroom Teacher Leaders who support teachers and students through strategic work with curriculum, data, and staff development. We also fund our Garden Integration/STEM teacher. This program enables K-5 students to apply science content into the real world via the garden. Student driven garden projects, game changer research, and showcasing learning through technology provide a triple lens to problem solving. In addition, we will have three Title 1 tutors serving students with Tier 3 interventions. As a parent of a child in a Title 1 school, you may request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher. We will also be hosting opportunities to share your feedback & ideas with the principal quarterly, to continue to build strong family relationships, get your feedback and connect on more ways to support families with learning strategies that you can use in your homes.
