A.T. Allen welcomes family and community input to ensure the success of all students. The staff at A.T. Allen strives to create and maintain open lines of communication. We provide communication to parents through the following methods:
Every student receives The A.T. Allen Community Handbook, with our policies
Quarterly NEST NEWS newsletter to highlight school happenings such as parent events, PTO meetings, special event days, student assessments, etc.
Cardinal Communicator Folders: sent daily with work & behavior cards, etc.
Parent Square: Communication app sharing events, behavior, & messaging abilities with the teacher
Edulog: school wide bus transportation app, sharing location of our school buses in “real time” and notifying families when the bus is close to their location.
Sunday Weekly Events Email: reminders of events for the coming week/s
Parent Square messages are sent out to all parents for any last-minute updates
Our School Website is constantly updated with new information for parents and community members. The website is a great way to “see” students in action.
Parent Satisfaction Survey: provide input via yearly survey
Our Front Office staff is knowledgeable and able to assist families whenever needed.
A translator is typically available (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) in the front office. Newsletters and flyers are interpreted in Spanish via the Parent Square app.
Every year this Parent Community Involvement Plan is revised based on a Comprehensive Needs Assessment and documented in our Family Handbook along with a copy of our Shared Accountability Compact.
Each year at Open House, teachers, parents and students sign this compact, which develops a partnership between them in order to support student success.
As a CBS school we promote responsible student behavior. Students will receive tickets to reinforce positive behaviors, and you will be contacted by a teacher in the event your child is behaving inappropriately at school.
All teachers and parents are encouraged to have a first quarter conference.
Parents may request additional conferences throughout the year as needed.
The staff at A.T. Allen also plans quarterly events for families to attend.
Archie’s Back to School Bash (Title 1 Open Meeting) will be held in September. At this event parents can learn about the NC Standard Course of Study, Title I school wide practices and benefits, current state testing scores as well as join the PTO.
Each quarter, families will be invited to Learning Events, where school data, school projects, student work, and strategies for parents to support students will be shared.
Math, Reading, and a Multi-Cultural Showcase will be the focus
Family attendance & feedback will be collected during events to ensure we are meeting families’ needs.
A.T. Allen embraces the philosophy of providing an inviting school environment.
The PTO Board will also meet monthly. We are looking for parent volunteers to join us for this monthly meeting. Please reach out to Mrs. Raso if you are interested.
Parents are invited to serve on our School Improvement Team monthly. We strive to have our diverse student population represented by parents. WE are looking for parent volunteers to join us for this monthly meeting. Please reach out to Mrs. Raso if you are interested.

A.T. Allen reaches all students.
Our school community is a part of the Advance Teacher Roles Grant. The grant enables us to seek and secure high performing teachers in the areas of student proficiency and growth.
At this time, we have FIVE Extended Reach Teachers (ERT). These teachers have demonstrated over time and qualified to be an ERT. As an ERT, they serve more students, thus extending their reach!
We also have 2 Multiclassroom Teacher Leaders (MCL) serving both students and teachers. As a MCL, they coach/support teachers with data driven decision & instructional practices and works with student small groups.
We also have Title 1 Tutors serving students based on their needs through our WIN time block daily.
