Bus Expectations

Each school day our bus drivers are committed to providing safe and dependable transportation for our students.  In order for this to happen, we rely on a partnership between the driver and the students.  Please help support school bus safety by reviewing these bus safety rules with your children.  

• Students should be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before their scheduled pick up time.  They should stand quietly while the bus is approaching and not move toward the bus until it has come to a complete stop.   There should be no pushing, shoving, picking or fighting at any bus stop. 

• Students may only ride a bus to which they are assigned. A note from a parent does not give a student permission to ride a bus on which the child is not on the bus roster per state guidelines. Cabarrus County School policy prohibits students from riding home with friends. 

Bus Conduct

Be SAFE at all times.

1. Remain seated, facing forward in your assigned seat.

2. No eating or drinking. 

3. Keep your body and all other objects to yourself and inside the bus. Secure loose items in backpacks.

4. Use appropriate noise levels.

Be RESPECTFUL at all times.

5. Follow the School Bus Driver and/or Monitor’s directions the first time given.

6. Be respectful with words and actions.

Be RESPONSIBLE at all times.

7. Ride only on your assigned bus; get on and off at your assigned stop.

8. Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the bus. Do not damage the bus in any way.

9. Elementary school students – MUST keep personal devices off and put away.

10. Follow all guidelines and rules presented in the Cabarrus County Schools 2021-2022 Parent Information Letter. 

The CCS School Bus Rules and Guidelines are for the safety of the students and the bus driver. Remember, school provided transportation is a privilege, and not a right. Serious misbehavior, safety violations, and/or repeated bus referrals will result in immediate discipline that may include suspension from the bus.  In cases of extreme or deliberate misbehavior on the bus, the school bus driver has been instructed to return to school. If this situation occurs, the children who are having difficulty will be removed from the bus. Parents of children removed from the bus will be called and will be expected to pick them up from school. The bus will return as quickly as possible to its scheduled drop-offs.
