Festival of Instrumental Music

The Festival of Instrumental Music (FoIM) presents three concerts of diverse repertoire, as well as some specially commissioned works by Australian composers, in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.

Senior musicians audition at school and are sent invitations to participate by Ms Ellis.

Please note the following  important details about each child's participation in this event.

1. Additional Rehearsals

Students will need to attend extra FOIM rehearsals with Ms Ellis which will take place in the school hall on Mondays during lunchtime from 7.30am. 

These rehearsals will run on the dates below:

Term 2: Weeks 5 - 8.

2. All Schools Rehearsal

This will run on Tuesday 21 May 9:00am (arrive 9:00am) to 1:00pm at Meadowbank Public School, 6 Rhodes St, Meadowbank NSW 2114.   Please keep in mind that parking is extremely limited at the school so we strongly advise that students carpool and arrange to drop students off at the venue.

**All students must be available for this rehearsal. Students must make their own way to the venue, where Ms Ellis will meet and supervise students. They must then be promptly picked up from the venue at 1pm.

3. Performance: Tuesday 25 June at the Sydney Opera House. Parents are encouraged to send their children to school and pick them up from there to take them to the Opera House.  T-Shirts for the event will be handed out at the Strings Ensemble rehearsal in the week ahead of the concert.

4. FOIM Fee: Please note that there is an additional fee for participation in FOIM to cover additional rehearsals and registration. This fee is $150 per student and should be paid via bank transfer into the Band & Strings account (details below). 

If this additional fee presents a barrier for your child to participate, please contact Ms Karrena Worrad to discuss.
