Festival of Instrumental Music

The Festival of Instrumental Music (FoIM) presents three concerts of diverse repertoire, as well as some specially commissioned works by Australian composers, in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.

Senior musicians audition at school and are sent invitations to participate by Ms Armstrong.

Please note the following  important details about each child's participation in this event.

1. Additional Rehearsals

Students will need to attend extra FOIM rehearsals with Ms Armstrong which will take place in the Stage 3 break out room on Wednesday mornings from 7.30am.

These rehearsals will run on the dates below:

Term 2: Week 9, Week 10

Term 3: Week 1,2, 3, 4, 5 and 6

2. All Schools Rehearsal

This will run on Thursday 28 July 2022 9:30am (arrive 9:00am) to 1:00pm at Concord West Public School, 378 Concord Road, Concord. 

**All students must be available for this rehearsal. Students must make their own way to the venue, where Ms Armstrong will meet and supervise students. They must then be promptly picked up from the venue at 1pm.

A WhatsApp group will be set up for parents to work out car pooling, etc.

3. Performance: Thursday September 1st at the Sydney Opera House. This will be a whole day event, timings will be confirmed closer to the event. 

4. FOIM Fee: Please note that there is an additional fee for participation in FOIM to cover additional rehearsals and registration. This fee is $150 per student and should be paid via bank transfer into the Band & Strings account (details below).

If this additional fee presents a barrier for your child to participate, please contact Ms Sam Nicol to discuss.
