Garden Rationale

Our group communicated with our client to ensure that she would receive an aesthetically pleasing garden with flowers that she designated. Her goals were for the garden to be both productive and attractive, so that is why we decided on plants with colorful flowers rather than grasses because our client wanted to highlight some pre-existing elements to the garden.

Our final pollinator garden design was made of six native flowers: Purple Coneflower, Bee Balm, Butterfly Milkweed, New England Aster, Prairie Cinquefoil, and White Indigo. The layout she created, before we planted in her garden, contained a rock arc that she wanted us to plant around, allowing us to be able to plant in the shade and sunlight. We addressed the issue of trees in the eastern side of the garden space since we realized that it would allow us to plant the flowers that needed shade on that side. Conversely, as there were no trees on the west side of the garden, we planted the plants that needed sunlight on that side.
