Project Update

During the summer of 2018, the administrative team began working with the Alburnett School Board on developing a preliminary list of facility needs. And now here we are 2 ½ years later right in the middle of a very exciting and promising facility project. Recently I have noticed an uptick in questions about the project. I’m happy to say that all of the project elements are just as were shown when the bond passed election in March 2020. With progress becoming more evident, it’s a good time for a review.

At the Martin Sports Complex, you can definitely see signs of the new multipurpose building. The building will provide much needed storage. While it is not a full storm shelter like the FEMA addition at the main building, it will provide a much needed space to get inside. The space will contain a full size gym, with two cross gym opportunities. We anticipate occupancy in May.

At the main building, work has begun to the northwest. New construction will extend the north high school wing and will provide a much needed updated space for the industrial tech program. This new space should be completed by May as well. That same hallway will include two remodeled classrooms for the Family & Consumer Science (FCS) program. Once this area of the building is completed this summer, all Career & Technical programs will be located in this area of the building. This includes agriculture, industrial tech, FCS, and business.

Construction on the south side of the main building will eventually be two new music classrooms and an auditorium.

Inside, work continues on the area that was the small gym. This remodeled space will be eight classrooms - four on the ground floor and four on the second floor. This, along with several other areas of classroom remodeling, will provide additional classroom space that is much needed.

The new elementary entrance will begin January 3. All student and visitor traffic will use the middle school entrance during this stage.

There is a lot left to do, but time will fly by. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
