Meet the Alburnett School Board

Iowa school boards provide direction for the education of thousands of students each year. While they do not serve as administrators for the day to day operation of schools, they do provide the valuable leadership needed from a policy perspective.

School boards may have five or seven members elected at-large, by director districts, or a combination of both. The Alburnett school board consists of five members elected at-large. Board members serve four-year terms, and elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in odd-numbered years.

School boards have authority when they meet together with a quorum present. Individual board members do not have this same authority. When community members visit with individual board members, board members are there to listen and perhaps provide clarifying information as they can. Our Alburnett school board members have chosen to seek election to this rewarding and important role, and they welcome the conversations they get to have with you.
