Project Update

Construction may sometimes look quiet outside the building, but it’s anything but quiet inside.

Area 100 This area stretches through the middle of the building between the elementary office and the current Family & Consumer Science classroom. It consists of hallways, restrooms, and what will eventually be the media center and the central office. The restrooms in this area are done, with the exception of a few finishing items that have not yet arrived. The media center work will begin in late April, and the central office will begin in late May.

Area 200 This area is the addition of the music rooms and auditorium. We are waiting on a few critical electrical items that will allow us to make the main electrical connection to the building. Once this is complete, the small brick structure that remains will come down. The actual construction in this area hinges on the arrival of the precast panels in the coming weeks. This area will be under construction for a while, and will be the last area to be completed next fall. Area 200 also includes the remodeling of classrooms upstairs. This includes splitting the current music room into two classrooms and converting the high school library area into three classrooms, all of which will be ready for use when we return to school in August.

Area 300 Area 300 is what most of us know as the small gym - although it doesn’t look much like that anymore. The floors on both levels are poured and the metal structure is being built right now. We expect to see this area completed in April.

Area 400 Area 400 is the new career and technical space and relocated Family & Consumer Science classroom. We think of this area as two project spaces - the internal remodel for the Family & Consumer Science classroom and the new construction for the industrial tech program. Footings have been poured in this new construction, and it is very likely the precast panels will have arrived by the time you are reading this update. Inside, the classroom remodel for the Family & Consumer Science classroom is progressing nicely, with the installation of the commercial grade equipment right around the corner. We expect to see this area also completed in April.

Area 500 This area is our elementary. There are several phases to this area. You know already about the classroom updates and hallways that were completed this summer and earlier this semester. Construction of the new elementary entrance and office remodel began in January. The remaining restroom remodeling in this area, as well as the elementary library conversion to classrooms, will take place this summer.

Multipurpose Building We have the site prepared at the Complex and the building materials were delivered the second week of February. Here again, by the time you are reading this article, there will be a great deal of progress made as the building is being erected. Once up, internal finishing will take a couple of months.

I cannot express enough thanks to all of you for your patience and support throughout this process so far. Our students, staff, and visitors are being so great about the inconveniences that go along with a project of this scope. Seeing it all come together in 2022 should be pretty exciting!
