Recognition and Rewards:

New Rickstones Academy has a culture of positivity and celebration. Our recognition and rewards system is points based whereby students can can receive both positive and negative points. Students are recognised for their progress, achievement and their commitment to the school’s vision and values wherever possible.


At New Rickstones Academy we differentiate between recognition and reward. We actively use both to achieve our aim of developing self-motivated and responsible students who value their education. This is achieved by encouraging and celebrating the successes of our students in all areas of school life and to ensure that a personal commitment to effort and achievement is acknowledged, rewarded and recorded. We appreciate that students thrive on praise, the thrill of success and the pride of being recognised.

We recognise our students at every possible opportunity. Recognition may come in various forms. Some examples are given below:

      • Sincere, private/ public verbal praise

      • Additional comments on written work

      • Work on display in the classroom

      • Work on display in public areas/website

      • Positive referral to another teacher

      • Positive letter of recognition sent home

      • Peer congratulation

      • Positive phone calls home

      • Extra class responsibility

      • Award certificates

We also reward students at various points throughout the year. Some examples of how we rewards students are given below:
