Arts Appreciation is a 3 unit multi-disciplinary course that develops students ability to appreciate, analyze and critique works of art through a multi-disciplinary approach.
After completing the course, the student must be able to:
acquire deep understanding on the diverse and dynamic function, perspective and meaning of art
characterize and appreciate the three basic assumptions of art
define, identify and characterize various elements of art
excellently utilize art to document life experiences and stress ideas and concepts
manifest cultural appreciation and participate in promoting local arts and culture
identify notable artists and artworks that contributed in the development of civilization
analyze and explain semiotic, iconic, contextual and evaluative planes of an artwork
characterize various forms of isms in Art and give their importance
use the visual , auditory and combined arts language as meaning-making device and demonstrate a new way of seeing
