Description:
This course provides imaginative ways to develop learners’ personal, social and employability skills through a personalised curriculum of challenges. They can choose challenges from a ranger of topics:

• Health and wellbeing
• World of work
• Science and technology
• The wider world
• Expressive arts
• Beliefs and values
Entry Requirement
No qualifications required.
Entry would be through invitation only and after discussion with PTG or PT Targeted Support.
Assessment
Pupils create a portfolio of 'evidence' from their individual challenges. This portfolio is developed throughout the year and is then 'verified' by ASDAN.
Final Exam
There is no final exam for this course.
AFC Northfield S4
SQA Wellbeing Award SCQF Level 5
Description:
Using the theme of football, pupils will participate in a variety of projects to help learners to explore factors that influence personal wellbeing, and to make decisions that contribute to personal wellbeing.
This award encourages learners to look at connections between mental, emotional, social and physical health and to look at different ideas of health and wellbeing at a personal, community, societal or global level.
Pupils complete two units of work:
Exploring wellbeing
Improving wellbeing
Entry Requirement
No qualifications required.
Entry would be through invitation only and after discussion with AFCCT coaches.
Assessment
Each unit involves planning, researching, recording and reflecting on projects undertaken producing a folio of evidence.
Final Exam
There is no final exam for this course.

Personal Development and Employability Skills programme.
Description
Achieve is a flexible social and educational programme which responds to the needs of young people. The Achieve PDE programme supports 12- to 18-year-olds to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in education, through relevant, engaging and informal learning. Achieve supports young people to improve their attainment, attendence, personal skills, social skills and engagement with education.
Entry Requirement
No qualifications required.
Entry would be through invitation only and after discussion with PTG or PT Targeted Support.
Assessment
Pupils create a portfolio of 'evidence' from participation in selected course units. Portfolios of evidence are assessed externally by Qualifications London and are SQA accredited. Portfolios can be presented at Award level or Certificate level depending on the number of individual units completed by candidates.
Final Exam
Portfolios are collated during terms and submitted to Qualifications London for assessment at specified times of the year. There is no final end of year exam.
ESOL
Description
The ESOL course is designed to support learners whose first language is not English, enabling them to develop their English language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing for personal, academic and vocational purpose.
Assessment
The course is structured to cater to learners at different levels of proficiency, with distinct outcomes at National 3, 4 and 5.
National Qualifications in ESOL correspond with levels A1 to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Entry to this course would be through invitation only, organised within the Languages and Literacy faculty.
