Wellbeing Award (Health and Wellbeing)
Description
The Level 4 Wellbeing Award consists of three mandatory units designed to help build a solid understanding of mental health and wellbeing. Learners will explore what mental health is, the factors that can influence it and the importance of recognising when support may be needed. The course also focuses on developing practical coping and support strategies, as well as building personal resilience.
Throughout the year, learners will take part in a variety of wellbeing activities ranging from arts and crafts to different types of physical activity (yoga, bouldering, netball and badminton) to experience first hand how different approaches can be used to maintain and improve mental health.
The course is particularly valuable for pupils interested in future careers in either the health sector or in education/childcare as this course provides pupils with an insight into supporting wellbeing in themselves and others
S3 Sports Studies
Description
The S3 Sports Studies course combines both practical and theory-based learning to give pupils a strong foundation for progressing on to National 5 PE in S4. Throughout the year, pupils will take part in a range of practical activities designed to develop their performance skills, build confidence, and enhance their understanding of how to improve in different sporting contexts.
Alongside practical lessons, pupils will explore key factors that impact performance, learning how physical, mental, social and emotional elements can influence success in sport. Theory tasks and homework will help pupils practise structuring their answers, analysing performance, and discussing how these factors affect their own participation and development.
This course is particularly valuable for pupils who enjoy physical activity or are considering future pathways in sport, fitness, PE, or coaching. By blending hands-on experience with the theory behind performance, pupils gain insight into both the practical and analytical aspects of Sports Studies, preparing them well for National courses.
