Helping our pupils to prepare for life beyond the classroom

Developing the Young Workforce

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) makes it easier for employers and schools to connect and equip young people for the world of work. They place a key part in the delivery of the Young Person’s Guarantee

Our regional DYW group – DYW North East – supports secondary schools in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, including Hazlehead Academy. They help us to build links with local businesses and other partner organisations. Through DYW North East, our young people gain access to industry professionals and other partners who give them insights into different job roles and the routes into them. The activities facilitated by DYW North East also encourage our pupils to develop the skills they’ll need for the world of work.

Example activities include:

-       Mock interviews

-       Classroom presentations

-       Interactive sessions

-       Site visits to an employer’s premises

and more.
