We’re delighted to share that our Primary 4 pupils, along with the Primary 6 woodwind group and the Primary 7 band, will once again be taking part in The Big Sing and Play at Duthie Park this year on Wednesday the 27th of May.
This fantastic event brings schools together from across the city to celebrate music through singing and live performance in a vibrant outdoor setting. Our pupils are already working hard in rehearsals and are very much looking forward to performing as part of such a large‑scale community music celebration. We’re sure it will be another memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Information will already have gone out to families - a reminder to please complete the required information asap so we can plan for the event.
DRESS DOWN DAY - FRIDAY 15th MAY
Help the PTA make their Everyone’s a Winner stall at this year’s Summer Fair bigger and better than ever!
Bring in a jar filled with treats and small toys for the stall and in exchange you can come to school in casual clothes for the day!
You can also donate bags of individually wrapped sweets and party bag fillers and we will make up the jars for you.
Please clearly mark any jars that are vegan friendly.
We’re pleased to share that the new playground benches have now arrived — and they look great! They’re already proving to be a popular spot for children and families to sit, chat and relax after school.
We would like to ask for everyone’s support in helping to look after them. Where possible, please encourage pupils to remind younger children not to climb on the tables so that the benches stay safe and in good condition for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for helping us care for our shared space.
A huge thank you to Paul of BFLABDN, a Scottish artist from Aberdeen with a background in street art, stencils and muralism. Paul is best known for his stencil portraits, which have been commissioned by customers in over 40 countries worldwide.
His work has been commissioned by schools, bars, garages, oil companies and private clients, ranging from full 200‑metre building murals to bedroom pieces. Paul shared that adding Ashley Road to his ever‑growing list of projects was an absolute blast.
He especially enjoyed meeting some of the pupils and answering their questions while he worked. As Paul said, “Seeing their excitement is the reason I love doing what I do. the children have loved seeing the project develop and are excited to get involved in the painting as part of one of our pupil leadership group initiatives to paint the wall beside the blue container. We can't wait to see what they achieve!
Sports Day will take place on Thursday the 28th of May this session. Due to ongoing work on the pavilion at Harlaw Playing Fields, it has not been possible to confirm a date that we will be able to access the space/toilets safely. Information will come out to families on Monday regarding the many volunteer roles needed to safely/successfully run a sports day. If you have any ability to, please volunteer. Without the support from many families, events like this will not be able to go ahead.

As part of our ongoing Trio Leaders of Learning work with Broomhill and Skene Square schools, this week it was Ashley Road's turn to host and the Super Squad pulled out all the stops to welcome their P7 visitors. After weeks of planning, our pupils led the others in a tour of the school (including a scavenger hunt!) and some ice breaker games, before introducing our new 'Steps to Success' book and working in groups to carry out writing moderation and assessment tasks. Rich discussion occured amongst the mixed school groups and the children enjoyed sharing the different approaches used in each school. The day was rounded off with a Q and A session. With their hosting work complete, our Super Squad are now looking forward to the final visit of the year, to Broomhill in June.
Ahead of their upcoming show, Alice in Wonderland, the P7s headed to the Arts Centre this week to learn about the process involved in putting on a professional production. They met with a local actor who treated them to a backstage tour, showing them how quick changes are executed and even letting them try out some costumes and props. They also got to explore the technical side of production, meeting backstage crew who showed them how lighting and sound effects are controlled. The trip was rounded off with a question and answer session, meaning P7 are now fully ready to take on the planning and performance of their very own show!
Following a large number of enthusiastic applications, our first group of P6 Emotion Coaches have now been selected and this week began their training, working alongside our PSAs to hone their skills and ensure they are ready to put them to the test out in the playground. All the coaches are looking forward to being able to support our younger children at lunchtimes.
A huge well done to Olivia and Leila who joined the senior cast of the AYMT production. in a performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. They did an awesome job in their roles as 'sewer children'.
Nathan and Theo in P3 both completed their first Speech and Drama exam where they had to learn two poems off by heart and deliver them in front of an examiner. Both achieved a merit!
A number of other children in the school who also completed these exams recently. Congratulations to them all!
Coming up next week we will be starting our 'Vocab Masters' challenge in assemblies. Pitting houses against each other in year groups to see who has developed the strongest vocabulary through our newly introduced Word Of The Week sessions this year.
If the children would like to do any preparation /revision the folder of the words of the week for the whole session can be accessed HERE.
The PLG School Spaces children have come up with the idea of having a competition to find the best design to replace the 'Jungle Wall' design (the long wall next to the blue container/car park).
Success Criteria:
Design should be a cityscape showing key/important places in Aberdeen.
Design should include all our Skills Monsters.
Deadline: Friday 15th May 2026
Competition design sheets will be provided and delivered to classrooms on Monday morning.
We look forward to seeing what creative ideas the children come up with!
Our P6 pupils have been busy developing their enterprise skills as part of the Grow a Fiver project, and they recently had the exciting opportunity to pitch their ideas to the PTA for start‑up funding. The presentations were of an exceptionally high standard, with pupils speaking confidently and clearly about their business plans, costs, and expected profits.
The ideas themselves were creative, thoughtful and wide‑ranging, showing fantastic teamwork, problem‑solving and entrepreneurial thinking. The PTA was very impressed by the effort and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved, making the decision‑making no easy task!
We’re delighted to say that many of these brilliant ideas are now being developed into real products, and we’re looking forward to seeing them on sale at the Summer Fair. Well done to all our P6 pupils for their hard work and ambition – a great example of learning brought to life.
A fantastic first session of Ashley Road's new running club took place this morning before school, with lots of smiles and speedy feet. A huge thank you to our brilliant parent helpers who have volunteered their time – we couldn’t do it without you! We’re excited for many more mornings of running fun ahead.
We are delighted to share that the PTA have very kindly agreed to continue to financially support the development of the playground space. We will soon be adding some cool benches, close to the black surface to provide more places for children and families to gather and chat. These will be made of recycled plastic bottles, keeping our Eco credentials intact, while ensuring they have a long lifetime.
The PTA will also be supporting the purchase of new 'Toadstool' stools for the school library to replace the existing furniture which has lasted well, but is now starting to look a bit 'worse for wear'.
A big thanks to everyone who came along to the disco last night, this event directly supported funding of these items!
On Friday morning the ELC welcomed lots of parents into the setting so that the children could showcase their engineering skills. Parents and children took part in a whole range of engineering tasks to show the wide range of activites that are on offer in the setting. All areas of the setting were utilised and lots of amazing creations were made. Everyone certinaly showed their creative sides! Thanks to all the families that came along to such a great event.
Have a glance at the slides and see if you can figure out what the Article Of The Month was. These articles are made a focus across the school each month to keep developing a shared understanding of the UNCRC and how we can keep rights alive within our school/community.
The Grampian Wellbeing Festival Programme is now live. This is open to all.
Taking place throughout May, the festival brings together a wide range of free and low‑cost wellbeing activities happening across Aberdeen and the wider Grampian area. From getting active and creative to learning something new or taking time to pause, there’s something for everyone.
Alongside the programme, a range of free downloadable wellbeing resources are also available. Inspired by the Five Ways to Wellbeing (Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give), these tools are designed to support individuals, families and workplaces to take small, positive steps for wellbeing during the festival and beyond.
👉 View the full programme and access the wellbeing resources here: Grampian Wellbeing Festival
We’re pleased to share that new bike pods and scooter pods have been installed in the rear playground. The new facilities provide parking for 24 bikes and 12 scooters, in addition to our existing bike shelter, which remains available for use. We hope this encourages more pupils and families to choose active, healthy and sustainable travel to and from school.
Please remember this area is not monitored and any bikes/scooters left in this area are left at the owners risk.
For everyone’s safety, please remember that children should dismount and walk their bikes or scooters once they enter the playground. Riding is not permitted within the playground area.

We’re delighted to share our newly painted playground wall, which has completely transformed the space. The mural features under the sea and space themes, alongside our school mascots and an 'astrodog'—all ideas that came directly from the pupils. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity brought to life.
A huge thank you to the PTA, who kindly covered the costs, to Mrs Stuart who drove the project and to the artist who took on such an enormous job. We’ve attached a timelapse video showing the mural coming together from start to finish.
Most importantly, the children absolutely love it. We hope this is another positive step in enhancing our playground space for our pupils and the wider school community.
The wall features the words “Built To Last”, our new school motto, inspired by the strength of our granite building and the resilient, determined young people we strive to develop within its walls.
We’re excited to share a fantastic music video starring some of our very own pupils, who stepped into the roles of our school mascots to bring our Skills Song to life. The video celebrates the wide range of skills we develop across the curriculum and showcases what learning looks like in action.
The performance was great fun—and even more impressive was the confidence shown by the children, who jumped in and performed with zero preparation. Their enthusiasm, courage and willingness to give things a go perfectly reflect the skills and attitudes we work hard to nurture every day. We couldn’t be prouder of our young stars!
Two versions are included below. One has subititles in case you fancy singing along!

This year’s school talent shows delivered everything: dazzling dance moves, daring gymnastics, angelic singing, piano playing that made the keys fear for their lives, and acting so dramatic even the curtains needed a moment.
A massive well done to all our performers—every single act was spectacular, surprising, or at the very least… entertaining in ways we didn’t know were possible.
Congratulations to our winners:
Blossom, who took the crown with her stunning flag dance—a performance so energetic we’re still untangling bunting from the stage lights.
Sam, whose masterful piano performance was so good the piano has now requested a two‑week holiday for recovery.
Thanks to everyone who participated, applauded, and pretended to find Mr Martin's puns funny.
Our two Primary 5 classes have been chosen to be part of this year's "Playground" project as part of the 'Light the Blue' Festival 2026, and this week attended the launch day at Aberdeen Music Hall. This creative project, involving nearly 500 children from schools across Aberdeen city and shire, brings together music, dance, drama and visual art stands and will culminate in a gala performance at Union Terrace Gardens in June. Our P5s had a fun and interactive day of taster sessions with the project leaders and are looking forward to putting their best foot forward when they work with the dance tutor next term. More on this to follow!
Netball taster sessions will be running on Thursday lunch-times with Miss Nicolson starting after the holidays.
These sessions will be open to P3/4 and P5/6.
Please see the links below to sign your child up. The sessions will start on 23rd April for an 8 week block.

These both go live 27th March at 18:00 and close 31st March 12:00.
A huge well done to our brilliant P4 pupils, who brought Jack and the Beanstalk to life with enough energy to make even the Giant sit up and pay attention! From brave heroes to magical beans and a beanstalk that definitely wasn’t held together with hope and tape, the performance had it all.
The children sang, acted, and stomped around the stage with impressive enthusiasm—especially during the Giant’s scenes, when several chairs were seen trembling.
Thank you to all the parents who came along to cheer them on. We’re incredibly proud of our young performers… and relieved that no actual giants were harmed in the making of this show.
The Ashley Road Running Club is ready to go!
Thank you to all the volunteers who are supporting this new club and for going through the PVG process. It has taken a while but we are now ready to run!
The club will start on the Friday 17th April. Please see the link below to sign your child up.

We have decided to try something new with our lost property. Instead of the previous stand which was in the library area, we have moved items to make them as accessible to children and families as possible. All lost, unnamed packed lunches/small snack boxes will be placed in this large container at the school entrance. This can be accessed at any time. We have also identified a cupboard beside the main entrance where all unnamed clothing will be stored. Hopefully this will make it easier for families to access.
You may have noticed last week that a few extra 'characters' appeared on the streets around school, on spots which we most often see poor/dangerous parking. These signs, helped remind drivers which areas families should not be parking on, to ensure that children had safe access to pavements and good visibility when crossing the road. On top of that, William, Coby and Mohammed got involved in monitoring the street and reminding drivers of the law by handing out 'tickets'. By the Friday, we didn't see any illegal parking at all. Let's hope families can keep it up!
We are delighted to share that our PTA are actively working on a 'Playground Graffiti Project' through which pupils, teachers, and local artists will work together to transform our plain playground walls into a bright, inspiring mural space. The goal is to make our outdoor area more engaging, promote school pride, and celebrate our community’s creativity.
To make this possible, we are seeking donations or sponsorship from local businesses to help cover the cost of:
Art supplies (non-toxic paints, brushes, protective coatings, etc.)
Equipment for safe mural installation
Artist design workshops for our pupils
Please see the attached letter - if you know of any local business who may wish to help, please share this information with them on behalf of the PTA.
This week children heard about the project in assembly and have been asked to vote on a theme/share their ideas which will be used to inform the overall unique design.
It looks like the prep and painting may be able to take place over the upcoming holiday period, so we will hopefully return to an uplifting backdrop to our playground!
Our P6 and P7 band pupils were very lucky to be invited along again to perform in the Spring Concert at the Beach Ballroom this year. Due to the inclusive nature of the P6 project, we were by far the largest group performing, making an enormous sound! Huge thanks to Mrs Dow who leads the project.
It is lovely to hear that she has a band of 26 Ashley Road 'woodwinders' who have maintained their commitment to the project as they have moved on to Grammar!
Eagle-eyed rugby fans may have spotted an Ashley Road-er at Murrayfield last weekend. George in P5 was selected by his Aberdeen Grammar Rugby coaches to be a mascot at the Scotland v France game and, after meeting some of the players, ran out onto the pitch in front of tens of thousands of fans. A daunting but fabulous opportunity for George, which he says has inspired him to keep working hard at this rugby. Well done!
This weekend Amir from P1 took 2nd place in Russian poetry recital in Glasgow last weekend and won 2nd place for his age group (5-6 years). He did an utterly amazing job, learning a very long poem by heart and delivering it with such confidence. A huge well done to Amir!
Active Schools would like to share details of their upcoming holiday camps, packed with games, sport, and plenty of energy to keep children active during the school holidays. The sessions give young people the chance to try new activities, build confidence, and spend time with friends in a safe and welcoming setting.
You will find more information on the attached flyers with camp details and a booking link.
Well done to everyone that took part in the World Book Day Potato Character competition. There were so many amazing characters created and the display around the library was fantastic. It was a very hard job to judge the potatoes but Mr Rae and Mrs Nicholson did their best and chose three winners.
P1-2 Winner was Barney form P2 with his amazing Hungry Caterpillar. Expertly painted and put together!
P3-4 Winner was Robin from P4 with his amazing Gandalf from the Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit. We were impressed with the artwork and the different textures.
P5-7 Winner was Saoirse from P5 with her amazing Tiddler from the Story telling fish. The artwork on the potato was amazing and so detailed and the plate further enhanced the whole look.
The winners all received 25 House Points for winning. This means Hazlehead have received 50 House points and Seaton has received 25 House Points.
Well done to everyone!
A record number of Ashley Road runners competed in Friday's Cross Country Championships at Balgownie, with more than 60 of our pupils braving the cold and muddy conditions of the 1km (P4) and 1.8km (P5-7) race courses, along with nearly 2000 fellow runners from schools across the city.
We were so proud of all our runners, who gave it their all, spurred on by the cheers from the rest of the team.
Ashley Road also took home a record number of medals, with wins in the following categories:
-Individual first place for Maya in P4
-Individual second place for Saoirse in P5
-Team first place for P4 girls - Maya, Anita and Carlota
-Team third place for P4 boys - Max, Presley and Robin
A great experience and achievement for all the children who took part. The future for Ashley Road Cross Country running looks bright!
A huge well done to Harris in P7 who spoke in assembly last week about joining the under 13 Scottish Squash team! This is an amazing achievement, which comes as the result of hard work, resilience and dedication. He is loving taking on the challenge, playing matches against the best of the best from Ireland, England, Wales and France! We couldn't be more impressed!
Last week saw the kick off for Block 1 of our P4-7 Pupil Leadership Groups for this sessions. Each year these groups have a real pupil driven impact on areas of school improvement which are, identified, planned for and delivered by the children themselves. Walk through the school and you can see and hear about impact and legacy left by previous groups. We cannot wait to see what they get up to this time around!
What a fantastic effort by everyone that took part in the Potato Character Challenge. There were so many potato characters around the library. It was great to see how children had tackled the challenge from simply painting or drawing on potatoes, to adding craft materials, to creating full dioramas.
It was very hard to judge the winning potatoes but three have been chosen. One from P1-2, one from P3-4 and one from P5-7. These will be announced at Assembly next week. The winners will each win 25 house points!
Children will also have received their World Book Day voucher home on Thursday or Friday. This can be used in a book shop to swap for one of the World Book Day special titles or to get £1 off a chosen book.
During our Clan times this week, we invited some of our PSAs along to share the work they have been doing on Emotion Coaching . We're now ready to progress to the next stage: encouringang our learners to take the lead! Next week, P6s will be able to apply to become Peer Emotion Coaches, working alongside our PSA team to increase their understanding of Emotion Coaching in action and put it into practice at break- and lunchtimes, supporting pupils across the school. Thanks to Mrs Sim, Miss Lilley and Mrs Styles for taking a lead on this project.
Five of our P7s attended the annual Round Table Rotary Quiz at RGC on Thursday night, equipped with their strong general knowledge and a great deal of enthusiasm. They battled hard against the other school teams and, whilst they did not make it through to the next round, they all did Ashley Road proud and had an enjoyable evening. We've all learned a few new facts too - not least, Taylor Swift's middle name!
Next Thursday 5th March is World Book Day. To celebrate we have afun home learning task for those that wish to take part.
The task this year is to create a potato charcter linked to your favourite book.
You will need a large potato, paint or felt tip pens and craft materials.
Have a think about how can you make the potato look like your character?
Children can bring in their potato character on Thursday to show to their class and then we will get children to take them to the library area where we will display them for the whole school to see.
I look forward to seeing the creations!
The children will also receive their World Book Day Tokens next Thursday.
If we see families parking in dangerous/illlegal ways, we may hand you a leaflet, reminding you that this choice is not respecting the right of our pupils to travel safely to and from school.
Over the next few weeks, you will notice that we are increasing our focus on the dangerous and illegal parking that continues to occur around the school. This has been a long‑standing concern, and we are exploring new ways to ensure every member of our school community understands the risks created by these choices.
This week, during Clan Time, we have shared information with children about the unsafe and unlawful behaviours we are seeing. We hope that, where appropriate, children will feel confident to use their voices and advocate for their right to be safe if they notice any of these behaviours during the journey to and from school.

Our strong team of Young Journalists created articles for our digital screen at the main school entrance. These articles are on a wide variety of topics but this week we have added one by Isabella on the Steps to Success writing book that we have launched.
It is great to see how many of the children are seeing the benefits of the book and how it can be used.
We’re pleased to invite parents and carers to an after-school session on Tuesday the 10th of March from 3:30 - 4:30 pm in school, focused on how to make best use of the Home Learning Library to support children’s learning across all areas of the curriculum. Families will be shown how to make best use of the resources available at home and how to link these to the assessment slips that will be issued shortly, at parent meetings in February, highlighting focus areas and skills each child is working on. This session will also introduce our school’s new Writing Skills 'Step To Success ' tool, which children P3-7 will be introduced to this session. More information on this tool will be shared with all families soon. The session will be practical, supportive and designed to help families feel confident in supporting their child’s progress at home. If you plan to come along to either session, please complete this short form to help us get an idea of numbers.
Last week saw two events in the ELC. The first event was the Valentines Card making session with parents invited to come and join to make a card or craft with thier child. We had around 35 adults attending this year. Lots of fun was had by all.
We also had a parent who came in to share about Ramadan and Eid Around the World. The children found out why it is special for Muslim people around the world and how they celebrate it. The children then got the chance to make some lanterns linked to Ramadan.
Thank you to the parents for making both of these events successful.

P6 are exploring Extreme Earth. Today both classes had a presentation from Mr and Mrs Osato (Richie’s family) about earthquakes in Japan. We discussed their personal experiences. P6 discussed how governments and individuals can support populations to keep them safe during an earthquake. We focused on the Tohoku earthquake of 2011. The session supported our understanding of the human impact of both earthquakes and tsunamis.
This week we were lucky to get the Aberdeen Confucius Institute Lion Dance Team in to the school playground to demonstrate their Chinese New Year Lion Dance. The children loved seeing the costume and how the team was able to make the Lion dance. Lion dances are a 1,500-year-old tradition in Chinese culture that usher in fortune and good luck for the new year.
As you can see from the photos and video it was great to be able to make this a whole school event in the playground.
The children in the ELC also took part in a craft session linked to Chinese New Year too supported by the Manadrin teacher who comes in weekly to share with the children.
Ashley Road School has now become a Junior Parkrun affiliated school. At Clan time this week we spoke to the children about the opportunity of the Junior Parkrun that takes place every Sunday morning at 9.30am at the Duthie Park. We already have a number of children who regularly take part in the run every Sunday morning. We are hoping we will be able to get this number higher over the next month.
In the Summer term we will look to arrange a specific Sunday to encourage as many families and children from Ashley to take part in the park run on that day.
You can register for parkrun for free here - www.parkrun.org.uk/register/
If you can't attend this week, junior parkrun happens every Sunday so you can come any Sunday your are available.
We once again had the travelling book fair in during the parent evening appointments. We have this open during the two parent evenings on the Tuesday and Thursday. Depending on how many books are sold depends on how much the school gets back to purchase new titles for our library.
This year we raised £312 towards new books for the library. These will be added in the coming weeks. Thank you to all the families who purchased a book during the evenings.
Thank you to all our P7 and parent helpers who ran the fair during the two evenings.
On Thursday P7 Room 11 had a visit from Nadine Aisha Jassat to deliver a workshop around her book 'Estie Noor and the House at the Edge of the World.' This visit links in to the Granite Noir 2026 festival and Ashley Road was lucky enough to be able to get a visit from an author.
Nadine read an extract of her book, told the children about her background and inspiration and spoke about how she always wants to inlcude characters in her book that were not represented in books when she was young. The children enjoyed the event.
Based on our ongoing School Improvement Plan, a great deal of work has been underway this session in an effort to produce a resource to provide learners and families with clear guidance and support materials regarding what is required at each level for core writing skills. Core writing skills are the key components of writing, without which text often doesn't make sense, e.g. grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence construction.
As a result of this work, we are now ready to launch Ashley Road's new 'Steps To Success' booklet.
Linked directly to curriculum requirements and assessment standards used by the teachers in school, the booklet contains clear reference to the standards required at each level, and prompts that will help children reach these targets.
The resource will be introduced in school over the coming weeks in all P3-7 classes, as a consistent tool which children will use and revisit frequently. The ultimate goal is to help the children have understanding and ownership in how they identify and work towards their next steps in these core writing targets.
As ever, we would encourage families to use these tools at home, to help us create a sense of shared understanding across our community. Therefore, a digital version of the booklet is available to all families for free and can be downloaded or accessed via the Home Learning Library. If families would like to purchase a hard copy to use at home, please complete THIS FORM, to allow us to get a sense of the number of books we may need to order.
SLT will be available at the upcoming parent meetings to show hard copies of the resource and to talk through how it can be best used to support learners.
Please see attached an example of the maths assessment slip which will be shared with each family from P2-7 at parent meetings next week. Please have a look over the example to reduce time lost explaining its format during the meetings. This year we will also be able to provide a similar slip for all P1-7 pupils based on writing assessments.
'Traffic Light' colour banding has been used to help families identify 'at a glance' the areas in which children have achieved highly and those areas where they might benefit from additional support. Teachers will explain how to interpret the information in these slips at parent meetings, and direct families towards appropriate levels of resources in the Home Learning Library where support materials can be accessed.
The second parents evening meetings of this session will take place on Tuesday the 17th and Thursday the 19th of February and will continue to be in person, in school.

This week we had a visit from the Road Safety Magic Show.
All the P1-7s took part in the interactive shows that reinforced how to be safe around roads. All the children should be able to recite the key message of: Stop, Look. Listen and Think, complete with actions. There was lots of fun and magic and the children enjoyed the show.
We were recently approached by a group of P7s from the HTL and Super Squad groups, who expressed their desire to make some changes to the way lunches are run, including the system for collecting lunch boxes and the arrangements regarding eating outdoors.
As the PSA team would be most impacted by any changes, the pupils were invited along to our PSA meeting this week to put forward their proposition - and they bravely accepted!
The PSA team was extremely impressed by how professional (and balanced!) the boys' arguments were. They spoke very convincingly and had a purposeful discussion with both the PSAs and SLT as to what might work and how.
The adults will now consider the logistics of the ideas before meeting with the group again to formulate a plan.
True pupil voice in action !
Coming up at the end of term will be our 'Vocab Masters' challenge. Based on our 'Words Of The Week' from this year, we will be looking for challengers who believe their vocabulary is at 'Grand Master' level. Reps will be identified for each house in a battle of words, with a stash of house points up for grabs. If any children want to ensure that they have the best chance of being selected and ultimately winning the battle, we have added a link to the words of the week for this whole school year (LINKED HERE). The challenge will happen towards the end of this term, so there will be plenty of time to revise!
Tune in below to hear 'Skills Song'
In celebration of the things which make Ashley Road unique, we have created three bespoke songs. The first of which has been shared with the children this term. Titled 'Skills Song' the lyrics reflect the strong focus we have in school on skills development, brought to life through our four mascots, Creative Curl, Physical Fuzz, Coping Corah and Connecting Cathy.
We are looking for four young performers who are keen to star in a 'music video' for the song, each taking on the role of a mascot. If you are interested in taking part, you must:
Not be shy around cameras
Have permission from your parents to have your image on the school website.
Be ready to dance, sing and perform.
