Sleeping Beauty DNA transposon in action

The Sleeping Beauty DNA transposon was created by Zoltan Ivics and Zsuzsanna Izsvak while working as post-doc's in Perry Hackett's lab at the University of Minnesota. Their research was published in Cell in 1997. The following Flash Movie is a graphic animation of Sleeping Beauty as it cuts a sequence of DNA (the transposon) from the genome and pastes it into a new location in the genome.
