Andy grew up thirty minutes north of the University of Michigan in Hartland, MI. He graduated from Hartland High School in 2016, then from the University of Michigan – Flint in the summer of 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. Currently, he is a second-year MPH candidate in Industrial Hygiene at the University of Michigan. Throughout undergrad, Andy worked for a small construction company. His work in construction has largely led to his interest in chemical and physical hazard exposures in heavy industry, though his curiosity is not limited here. Not only would he like to improve worker satisfaction and longevity by educating employees and employers about the hazards associated with their work, but he would also like to help minimize the environmental impact associated with modern human expansion. After all, he believes that human health is intrinsically linked to environmental health, as humans simply are a part of nature. In Andy’s free time, he hangs out with his wife and son, reading, or mountain biking.
Anna Sturgis is a second-year Industrial Hygiene MPH candidate from Port Huron, Michigan. Anna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Community and Global Public Health from the University of Michigan in 2022. Anna’s passion for industrial hygiene stems from a desire to learn about the intersection of the environment and health and, more specifically, the disparities in the safety and health outcomes different worker populations may experience. Since the Fall of 2020, Anna has been a research assistant in the Le Lab and has researched the health outcomes of different worker populations, such as nail salon workers and waste workers. After graduation in 2024, Anna is interested in improving worker safety and examining exposures in the private sector and eventually becoming a CIH and CSP. During her free time, Anna enjoys playing board games and cards, drinking Tim Hortons’ coffee, anything that involves a lake, and hanging out with her two elderly dogs, Edward and Bella.

While obtaining her degree at Michigan, Hailey serves as the treasurer for the University of Michigan Industrial Hygiene Student Association (UMIHSA).
