Cassie is a first-generation student from Romulus, Michigan. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Public Health Sciences at the University of Michigan in April 2020 and is returning as a first-year MPH Candidate in Industrial Hygiene. Cassie pursues industrial hygiene to protect the dignity and quality of life of working people. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her son and siblings, biking, watersports, and going to concerts and music festivals.
Christopher was born in Arizona but grew up in Metro Detroit and completed his undergraduate degree in Geological Sciences at Albion College in 2013. Since then, he has largely been involved in the environmental consulting trade, sampling groundwater and soil for contamination, writing environmental assessment reports, and conducting surveys of residential, commercial, and industrial properties for the presence of asbestos and other hazardous materials. He's most proud of his time remediating the impacted water and sediment of the Kalamazoo River from the 2010 oil spill, where he operated and maintained a water treatment plant. As of late, he has developed and managed an NVLAP-accredited laboratory that analyzes samples using polarized light microscopy. His passion for IH stems from those two projects, where he was able to see first-hand the importance of worker safety. Outside of the daily grind, he is an avid woodworker and amateur musician.
Tiara is an international MPH student from Indonesia. Her passion for industrial hygiene started as a Public Health Studies undergraduate at the University of Indonesia. She excelled in occupational health and industrial hygiene courses and secured an apprentice position with the industrial hygiene department at Total E&P Indonesie, a multinational oil and gas company currently known as PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM). Due to her performance as an apprentice, she was recruited as an industrial hygienist at PHM. Among her responsibilities was the establishing of a benzene exposure management program, which included air monitoring for benzene and and biomonitoring of urinary S-Phenylmercapturic Acid (S-PMA). She also conducted quantitative fit testing (QNFT) based on OSHA standards. After managing workplace health hazards as an industrial hygienist for more than four years, Tiara is excited to gain new knowledge, skills, and connections that will help her to develop the future of occupational health risk management in Indonesia. She is particularly interested in how heat stress exposures affect physiological responses. For recreation, she loves to spend her time running, hiking, playing guitar, and exploring nice coffee shops.
Trevor has lived within 15 miles of the University of Michigan his whole life and is from Saline. He graduated from Grand Valley State University in December 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management. During his time at Grand Valley, he served as the president of his fraternity and was an active member in GVSU's student chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals. Upon graduation, Trevor worked for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as a Safety Professional at their Dundee Engine Facility. Trevor's decision to pursue a public health career and industrial hygiene was inspired by one of his professors at Grand Valley. What interests him most about the field is taking a more in-depth look at not just worker safety, but the health effects the workplace can have on an individual. Aside from school, Trevor's interests include spending time with his friends and family, reading, watching sports, golfing, and anything that involves dogs.
Anna is a Michigan native from the Jackson area, just west of Ann Arbor. She received her B.S. in Public Health from the University of Michigan in 2020, and decided to stay to pursue her MPH. Her professional experiences include a summer as a Health and Safety Compliance Coordinator intern with Air BP in Chicago, as well as a Health and Safety internship with Renewable Energy Group in Ames, Iowa. In her free time, Anna enjoys relaxing at home with her two cats, reading, and spending time outdoors.

Ana is a first-generation immigrant and student who graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University of South Alabama. She realized that a degree in biology would allow her to mold her education path to suit her interests, as well as to combine her love of learning and science with the opportunity to grow as a person. During her sophomore year, she began researching the possible career options available to someone with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and discovered the field of industrial hygiene (IH). IH was a completely new concept to her because Moldova does not offer anything remotely resembling an educational program that focuses on worker safety.
