Andrea is from beautiful southern Idaho and has a great love of the outdoors. She obtained a B.S. in Biology from Texas Tech, where she was provided the opportunity to go to Honduras twice to participate in coral reef research. Her and her research partners went to national conferences to present their research, and even had a paper published in the Texas Journal of Science. After graduation, she quickly learned how hard it was to find a job with a biology degree. She was blessed with a job as a microbiology laboratory technician in the pharmaceutical industry, but quickly learned that it was not the path that was right for her life. She embarked on a journey to Michigan to pursue her Master of Public Health degree in Industrial Hygiene. While most in the program had previous knowledge about the field from undergrad or research, she is learning all of the foundations from the ground up and does not think there is a better school to do so at. Andrea is part of the Health Service Collegiate Program and looks forward to becoming an industrial hygiene officer in the U.S. Navy upon graduation. When not doing homework for Ted’s class, Andrea is quilting or doing anything outdoors. Also, as you can see, she enjoys devouring strawberry rhubarb pie.
