Task 1:

Classifying Musical Instruments:

In Western music, we usually classify instruments into four main categories which are :

1) String

2) Woodwind

3) Brass

4) Percussion

However, to make the categories more specific Hornbostel and Sach created groups in which non musical instruments could also be included.

This is so that we can classify the instruments we create that produces sound.

Hornbostel and Sach created these categories so that the instruments would be grouped according to how sounds are produced.
