'Psycho'- Alfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho' was released in 1960.

This film shocked audiences as it had scenes such as nudity, schizophrenia, gory murders and transvestism.

Plot:

'Psycho' is a murder mystery.

Marion has stolen a large sum of money from her boss and is on the run, hoping to have a new start with her lover Sam Loomis.

Unfortunately, she is stabbed to death in a isolated, old motel run by a manic man named Norman Bates.

Biography of the Composer

Bernard Herrman was an American composer, born on the 29th of June 1911.

His family origins were from Russia and he was born in New York.

Bernard's dad encouraged him to be educated in the arts and so took him to many operas and concerts. Bernard also studied the violin as his first instrument.

He studied at New York university under Percy Grainger. He also studied at Julliard school where he formed the New Chamber Orchestra of New York.

In 1934, he became the staff conductor for Columbia Broadcasting System.

Alfred Hitchcock liked the music Herrman produced so continued to work with him for films such as 'North by North West', 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' and 'Vertigo'.

Herrman composed music for other films as well for instance 'Citizen Kane' and 'The Twilight Zone'.
