SECTION A:

Activity 1: Copy the following question and the answer into your music exercise book.

Question: What are the main instrument families in music?

Activity 2: Look at the pictures of each instrument and listen to their sounds on the website given here:

Activity 3: Go to spelling list at end of this document – write list of instrument groups neatly in your music exercise book.

Activity 4: When instructed by your teacher, go to a classroom electronic keyboard and locate the various instrument sounds.

Activity 5: Write down your three favourite instrument sounds as I, 2 and 3, with number 1 being the best. Which family do these sounds belong to?

Activity 6: After you have learned the instrument families, there are many quizzes and games about instruments that you will play to test your knowledge of instrument families.

Make sure you record scores in your music book to show your teacher how you are progressing and where you may need more help.
