I knew this was a hard one to solve but thought we'd give it a try. On Tuesday night's homework the last question was to figure out the rule for the sequence 2,4,10,28,82.... Here's the answer you multiply by 3 and then subtract 2. For example 2x3=6-2=4, the next number in our sequence. Then you have 4x3=12-2=10, and so on. We practiced a few sequences like this in class that had two steps, in fact we even did one almost exactly like this one but I knew it would be a stretch... but that's where a lot of the good learning happens! By the way, three students (and, no doubt parents) solved the problem.
