As the calendar changes seasons we're moving along with several projects in the art room. The 4th and 5th graders are finishing up their line drawings composed of overlapping shapes which create new shapes with include a wide variety of textures created with lines. 2nd and 3rd graders finished a similar project although working with smaller drawings and K-1 has been exploring materials from watercolor to collage. The older grades will be moving into mixed media works that connect with the flood experience we all shared to some extent here in northern Colorado. I expect the pieces will include words and well as images, perhaps mixing in poetry or memoir. 2nd and 3rd grade will be learning about perspective and a few other tricks of the trade they can employ in their art work and the K-1 groups will be working with colors, learning about primary, complimentary, cool and warm colors etc.
