Report cards are scheduled to go out next week. Hopefully there won't be any surprises since we've sent home work regularly throughout the year. In 4th grade we have letter grades for math, reading and writing as well as number scores for specific parts of those academic areas. Social Studies and Science are scored with numbers. In those two areas we usually only cover one part of the subject each trimester, so many of the areas are not scored on this first report card. In math and reading the grades come from test and quiz scores. It's pretty much a straight numerical average for those grades. Writing grades come from a combination of students work in their writing notebooks and how they apply the skills we've learned in their writing projects. In this first trimester our writing work has been in the narrative form, both personal narratives and graphic storytelling. As always if you have questions you can call or email me and I'll try my best to answer your questions.
