Completing Coursework from Mobile Devices

You don't have to be sitting at a computer to work on this course! Almost everything can be done right from your mobile device as long as you have the right apps. You can access your files and folders in Drive from the Drive mobile app, but you'll need Docs/Sheets/Slides apps to edit documents. The Classroom mobile app has all the same features as the online version plus the added benefit of mobile alerts which can be set to your preferences.

Apps to Download

You will need at least the apps listed below downloaded onto your mobile device(s).

  • Google Drive - for viewing and organizing your files
  • Google Classroom - for submitting course assessments
  • Google Docs, Sheets, & Slides - for editing each type of document
  • We also recommend downloading the Chrome app if it is not already on your device

Screenshots & Voice Recordings from Your Mobile Device

Most phones and tablets have built-in screenshot shortcuts which allow you to save whatever is on your screen at the moment as a picture. For Apple and Android devices, this is typically done by pressing the "home" and "sleep" buttons at the same time.

You can upload photos and files directly from your phone into Drive.

Mobile devices also have built-in voice memo recording apps. For instructions, see the Voice Recordings folder in All SUSD User Guides.

"Share" directly to Classroom from your iPhone or iPad

Once you have downloaded and logged into the Google Classroom app, the share button on an iPhone or iPad may be customized to include sharing directly to Classroom. If Classroom does not appear in your list of icons, click the "More" button and activate it, then click Done. With this setting in place, you will be able to select an assignment from Classroom and attach the file (document, image, or voice recording). Don't forget to open the Classroom app afterward and click Submit.
