Pre-Kindergaren Program (4 - 6 yrs)
The Pre-Kindergarten class learns through academic based activities. Class is a little more structured than the Preschool Program, allowing the students to prepare for Kindergarten. Please click Kindergarten Readiness Report for more details
The students rotate through centers spending approximately 15 minutes at each.
Center 1 focuses on Math and Science
Center 2 works on fine motor skills and perceptual skills, e.g., eye hand coordination, spatial awareness, and sensory activities.
Center 3 focuses on language arts and writing through a program called Ti & Mo. The students learn the alphabet and the sounds the letters make, how to write each letter, and learn to recognize and write their name.
Students also have outdoor play for the large muscle development of running, climbing, sliding, pedaling, swinging, etc.
Our program will promote the following developmental areas:
Gross Motor – includes outdoor/ indoor activities and games; large muscle movement, balance and coordination skill.
Fine Motor- includes small muscle manipulative activities, table toys, puzzles and Lego’s multi-sensory activities: art, play dough, painting, and writing tools.
Perceptual: includes eye-hand coordination, awareness of spatial relationships: up, down, next to, under etc.
Language – reading stories, making and writing books, telling stories, written and visual symbols. Verbalizing what the child is doing, naming colors, etc.
Cognitive – pre-classification activities: matching, sorting etc.
Social – carpet time, group activities, free choice, outdoor or indoor play. Etc.
Emotional – self-concept, body awareness, going up, awareness of God’s love for them.
