Website Requirements:
At least 4 pages (shown in navigation bar)
Homepage

Blog Page
Video Page
At least 7 images on your website
At least 3 Blog Posts on Blog Page
At least 3 video on your website
A theme for your website (not just white)?
At least 3 links on your website
A slideshow on your homepage
Add a Photo Page to your site:
Click on Create Page button at top (Page with +)
Name the Page (Photos)
Click Create again
Add Pictures to your site:
Go to your Photos page
Click on "Edit Page" (the pencil at top)
Click on Insert and select Image
Select "Web Address"
Find a picture on Google Images
Right Click on it and "Copy Image Address"
Then paste it into the Image URL box and click OK
Add a Blog Page to your site:
Click on Create Page button at top (Page with +)
Name the Page (Blog)
Change "Web Page" to "Announcements"
Click Create again
Add 3 Blog Posts:
Go to your Blog page
Click on "New Post"
Title it: Fact #1
Write a cool fact about your topic and include a picture.
Then click Save
Repeat for Facts 2 and 3
Add a Video Page to your site:
Click on Create Page button at top (Page with +)
Name the Page (Videos)
Click Create again
Add 3 Videos:
Go to your Video page
Click on "Edit Page" (the pencil at top)
Click on Insert and select YouTube Video
Find a cool video on YouTube
Right Click on it and "Copy Video URL"
Then paste it into the Video URL box and click OK
Adding a Theme:
1) Click on "More Actions" (the gear at top)
2) Then go down to "Manage Site"
3) Click on "Themes/Colors/Font" bottom left
4) Try out different Base Themes to find one you like
Adding a Description:
1) Go to your home page
2) Click on Edit Page (pencil at top)
3) Add a description to your website. What is your website going to be about. 1-2 sentences.
Add a Links Section to the side:
1) Click on "More Actions" (the gear at top)
2) Then go down to "Edit Site Layout"
3) Click on + on the Sidebar (on the left side)
4) Select Text and Click Add
5) Put the mouse right below the pages on the side
6) Click on Edit Sidebar Item
7) Title it "Links"
Add 3 Links:
1) Find a good website and copy the address
2) Type Just the NAME of the website in Text Box
3) Highlight the name
4) Click on the link button (or press CTRL-K)
5) Select Web Address
6) Paste the URL for the website into the box
7) Select "Open in a new Window"
8) Click OK at the bottom
9) Repeat for 2 more sites
10) Press OK at the bottom
11) Then press blue CLOSE button at the top
12) Then reload the page (circle arrow at top)
13) Test your links to make sure they work
Slideshow Requirements:
Open Google Apps and go to SLIDES
At least 5 slides:
1) Title with a cool pic (what is your topic)
2) What is ________ (explain your topic)
3) Did you know? (cool Fact about your topic)
4) Picture with description
5) More cool pictures
Then add a Theme and Transitions
Adding your Slideshow to your Homepage:
1) Go to your Homepage
2) Click on "Edit Page" (the pencil at top)
3) Go to Layout at the top
4) Select Two Columns
5) Click on Insert and select Drive and then PRESENTATION
6) Find your slideshow in your Drive and click SELECT
7) Check the last two boxes to start automatically and keep playing
8) You can change the size if you want
9) Then click SAVE at the bottom
For this event you will be using Google Sites to create a website about a school sport team, club or event.
Getting Started:
Log in to Google, click on the Apps button at the top and go to Sites.
Create a new site, Title it “Sequoia ___________” Fill in the blank with whatever group you are covering.
Play around with the themes and colors to get started.
Add pages to your site. It should have 3 pages total. You may want to have a home page, photo gallery, and some other page such as a schedule, blog, videos, links, files…
Meet with the teacher/coach to discuss what they do and what information is important to have on the website. Think about how you can best showcase the club/team online.
Create a survey or form to add to your site.
Take pictures to add to your site.
Create a title banner to add to your site using Photoshop or some other editing program.
