Scala Image PC Player Starting up Win7

Most recent Scala image are based on Windows Embedded 7P. Think of it as a pre-installed, pre-tested and almost fully configured System. All systems Drivers are been tested – especially the Graphic driver – for stability and performance. Scala components are already pre-installed (Scala Player, Python, Flash) and could be remotely updated through Scala Content Manager. Drive Partitioning is in place to separate OS/System from Data files. Various shortcuts are available to help you finishing the configuration. BIOS is also fine tuned for maximize stability and performance.

Note

• Do not update any Driver (such as AMD Catalyst. Scala image is using tested/certified Drivers) or Adobe Flash Player.
• Do not install any Video codec / software (Such as K-Lite codec etc.)
• Depending on the player model, BIOS settings might need to be changed.
• BIOS System Date: Current UTC Date and Time (Not your Local date !)
• All of the Player configuration files and System Log files are NOT placed in the “Documents & Settings” directory It is “FTProot” on D:\
• Press "Esc" key to stop playback.
• Portrait mode (Vertical) is set in Scala Player Configuration, not in windows. Windows should remain in Landscape mode at all times.
• For Multiple screens, use AMD eyefinity. (Some players do not support intel collage mode.)
  • If you are using AMD eyefinity, do not turn on dxva (AllowDXVA=1) . Default is off (AllowDXVA=0)

Power Cycle

• Start＞Shutdown (Recommended)

• Press and hold power button until light goes off.
• Unplug a power cord and plug back in to turn on the player.

1. Plug a screen, keyboard, mouse and ethernet cable to a player. Then, plug the power supply. the player will automatically turn on.
   1. When the power is off, making sure that the cable is connected tightly

1. BIOS Configuration Press « Delete » on keyboard when the player is booting in order to enter the BIOS.
   1. Check UTC date and time. Not your Local time https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/timezone/utc

1. Read through all documents. (Password Change and limitations.)
2. Scala image is provided with 2 windows accounts. The default password for both accounts is: scala123#
   • SCALA user account is for configuration changes
   • IC5P user account is for autoplay
1. (Optional) Allow remote connections on the player
2. Change time zone (Do not change date and time before changing time zone)
   1. Start>Settings>Control Panel>Date and Time>Change time zone...

• If the system Time (Step２.a）is wrong, Confirm the time zone and correct time. It will change the system time.

   • IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want a Portrait screen, it is recommended that the screen orientation in Windows is set to "Landscape". The Portrait mode is configured in Scala Player Configuration. Scala Player Configuration>Playback>Screen Orientation>Select your degree.

   1. Install a Player Updater via CM
2. Set a IC5P AutoLogon account. (Whenever you restart the player, it automatically playbacks.)
   1. Start>Advanced_Player_Configuration>Enable_IC5P_Autologon.CMD>Restart the player>Confirm autoplay.

1. Other features.
   1. System reboot or schedule power on
      • Reboot Players Weekly or Once a day
      • Power off the player at night. Power on it in the morning.
   2. EWF (Increase SSD life span and protect from attack)
      • After you set EWF, you can not change configuration settings and update the player. You need turn EWF off.
      • If you consider security, at least you set EWF enable. You can prevent accidental writes, attacks, malware or other harmful access.

2. Antivirus Software
   1. If you want to install the antivirus software, it is recommended
      • Delay the start of player clients. Player version 11.00.00 (Avoid conflicts)
      • weekly or nightly reboot
      • "read-scanning" excludes from scanning below.
