Can not Start Apache Tomcat Service After Java Update

After Java Update, if you restart Apache Tomcat Service or your server (after Windows Updates), you will not be able to open CM.

This is because when updating to a newer version of Java 8, certain Tomcat parameters need to be adjusted in order for Tomcat to continue to work. You need re-run the Content Manager Installer or Updater (Step 4) before restarting the service.

• Scala does not recommend that you allow your Java to update automatically
• If you want to update your Java version, install Java Run Time and follow from step 4

1. Access to server> Open services. Check Apache Tomcat Status>Click Start

1. Error message
2. Windows could not start the Apache Tomcat 7.0 Tomcat7 on Local computer. For more information, review the System Event log. if this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1.
1. Open Event viewer>Check Administrative Events and Windows Logs>System

• Error message
  • The Apache Tomcat 7.0 Tomcat7 service terminated with the following service-specific error:
  • Incorrect function. Unable to bind to the underlying transport for [::]:80. The IP Listen-Only list may contain a reference to an interface which may not exist on this machine. The data field contains the error number.
1. Check Tomcat logs. C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\logs commons-daemon.XXXX-XX-XX.log

• [error] [ 4204] Failed creating java C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_XX\bin\server\jvm.dll
• [error] [ 4204] The system cannot find the path specified.
1. Re-run the Content Manager installer or updater (Your current CM version)>Next

1. Select Modify Installation Settings>Tick Connector Settings>Next>Next>Finish. Open Content Manger

Disable Automatic Java Updates.

1. Open Java Control Panel (Configure Java)

1. Click the Update tab to access the settings. To disable Java Update,
   1. deselect the Check for Updates Automatically check box. Click on Apply.

Confirm Java Virtual Machine Path.

No need do this if you can connect to the Content Manager

1. Find out which Java version you have just installed Default:C:\Program Files\Java

1. Open> C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat X.0\bin
2. Go to bin directory.>Run Tomcat7w.exe as administrator.

1. Go to the Java tab and confirm your Java Virtual Machine path to the JDK version appropriate to you.
   1. Default: C:\Program Files\Java\jrex.x.xx\bin\server\jvm.dll

1. If the path is wrong, you need manually change to the right path and click Apply.
