DBQ In Class Writing
"How did the Treaty of Versailles cause WW2?"
G: (Goal) You need to understand the reasons that led to WWI, WWII and the elements of the Treaty of Versailles.
R: (Role) You are at the Treaty of Versailles and are attempting to negotiate the Treaty itself.
A: (Audience) Your audience is the people attending the Treaty of Versailles.Â
S: (Situation) You have some magical ability acquire documents from the future. But you can only get a few of them. The documents are only the DBQ documents.Â
P: (Product) Use the DBQ documents from the future to argue for a better treaty of Versailles to avoid WW2.
S: (Standards) Work will be judged by the people attending the Treaty of Versailles. . . but really you will be judged by IB rubrics A & C.
You will be using the DBQ document and papers, but only the DBQ papers (no outside paper).
Grading Expectations
Day 1 - Have students write the following:
Intro paragraph.
Baby Thesis #1
Citation #1
Baby Thesis #2
Citation #2
Baby Thesis #3
Citation #3
Concluding Paragraph
Points for the following:
2 points for a thesis with 1 argument. (1 point for 2-3 arguments in one thesis.)
1 point for either doing the 5ws in the intro, OR defining all of the key terms in the thesis.
1 point for a baby thesis with connection to the thesis (x3)
1 point for a citation that properly follows MLA (x3)
1 point for arguing for why your thesis is correct (restate thesis connect to all 3 baby theses again). ["therefore, this deminstrates"]
You will also be graded on the following Rubrics:
