EQ: How were the current internal or external challenges faced by your country caused by the Cold War?
Format: Presentation. You may provide any type of supportive documentation, but it must be up and running n Schoology in order to be used in your presentation. Any format that meets the requirements. (paper, poster, song, video, website)
You may work as partners, but all requirements are multiplied by the number of partners. [more advanced]

Topic: Choose any country or historically relevant named area (example: Palestine or Kashmir) except NOT China, Israel, Soviet Union or the United States. See recommendations below.
Choosing Topic: Any student that chooses and posts their choice into Schoology first gets the topic (Discussion Titled: "Make your Choice"). Two people cannot have the same topic in the same class (unless they are partners).
G: Your goal is to clearly understand and outline some of the effects of the Cold War, and get money for your country.
R: You are a representative from your country and you are presenting to the UN for funding.
A: Your audience is the UN (your peers and Mr. O).
S: The situation is that the UN has $3.7 billion to address the situation for a few countries that were effected by the Cold War. You must argue why your country should win the funds.
P: Create a presentation that argues for why your country was so devastatingly effected by the Cold War.
S: This will be graded based on the rubrics below, and based on the IB Criterion A for a grade. The class will later choose how to distribute the $3 billion dollars (each billion is worth 1 Extra Credit point).
TIPS!!!!
1) You might want to think about using some sort of propaganda or unconscious manipulation to win & get access to those 3 extra credit points. But you can't lie (Criterion A).
2) Finding information about how the Superpowers manipulated your country during the Cold War would probably be a very strong argument. Especially if they sent their CIA or KGB in to manipulate your country.

CRITERION A & D - 16 pts

EXTRA CREDIT
After the project presentations, we will vote as a "United Nations" to grant the $3.7 billion dollars to a country or countries ($1 billion = 1 point). Therefore you choice of country (most effected) and your argument (blaming challenges on the Cold War) will effect your likelihood of getting the extra credit.
