Making up the DBQ
We did a DBQ in class in which students were to complete a 5 paragraph essay in 55 minutes. Several students got bogged down with the outline. The outline was not a part of the grade, but was provided as a structural aid. "How could you structure the essay?"
Objective: Practice writing a timed essay using the DBQ format in order to practice for AP, SAT, ACT, and IB (as well as all college placement essays). Example from ACT here: http://www.actstudent.org/testprep/descriptions/writingdescript.html
The full DBQ information and full questions are provided below. Please review and rewrite the essay. Please attempt to write a 5 or 6 paragraph essay in 55 minutes. That means that you need to budget your time so that each paragraph is completed within it's share of the total time. DO NOT SPEND 25 minutes on the introductory paragraph! No more than 10 minutes per paragraph. If that means you only write 3 sentences per paragraph, then that is preferable to not finishing. FOCUS ON THE OVERALL ANSWER TO THE QUESTION.
