1. Turn in your Bohr Models

2. Watch the following slideshow. (There is no sound.)

3. Complete Vocabulary "LINCS" for the 12 vocabulary words given.

Cell Processes Vocabulary

Use color, be neat -- this will be graded… You can brainstorm in pairs but each person needs to complete a set of cards. DUE TOMORROW.

13-14 Vocabulary "LINCS"

1/14

Guided Reading: Ch 3.1 --> p72-75

LINCS for

  • Mixture - a combination of substances in which the individual substances keep their own properties
  • Organic Compound - compounds containing carbon and hydrogen found in living things
  • Inorganic Compound - compounds made from elements other than carbon whose atoms can only be arranged in one structure
  • Carbohydrate - an organic compound that supplies energy for cell processes
  • Lipid - an organic compound that does not mix with water and forms a major part of cell membranes
  • Protein - an organic compound that are made of amino acids and are the building blocks of many structures
  • Nucleic Acid - large organic compounds that store important cellular information like DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) or RNA (ribonucleic acid)
  • Enzyme - a type of protein that regulates (controls) nearly all chemical reactions in cells

1/15

DO NOW -- If you owe work (including completing a test) you will have 10 minutes at the beginning of class to complete/organize yourself.

TODAY WILL BE A "CATCH UP" DAY FOR EVERYONE.

If you feel you are "caught up," you can begin drawing some compounds!!!
