2013-2014

8th Grade

8th grade science is devoted to a systems view of our world. While we recognize interactions and connections among the three major domains of science (physical, biological, and earth), this year we focus primarily on the physical and earth sciences.

Unit A: Systems

Unit 1: Earth Chemistry

Unit 2: Earth Processes

Unit 3: Earth Energy

Unit 4: Earth in Space

Unit B: End of the Year Showcase

Overarching Goals

  • Why is a systems view of the world necessary in understanding science?
  • How do we know what we know?
  • How can we use what we learn to help make the world a better place?

7th Grade

7th grade science is devoted to a systems view of our world. While we recognize interactions and connections among the three major domains of science (physical, biological, and earth), this year we focus primarily on the biological sciences.

Unit 1: How Scientists Work

Unit 2: Microscopes and Cells

Unit 3: Cell Processes

Unit 4: Cell Reproduction

Unit 5: Heredity

Unit 6: Adaptation Over Time

Unit 7: Disease

Overarching Goals

  • How do we know what we know?
  • What processes are responsible for life’s unity and diversity?
  • How are organisms structured to ensure efficiency and survival?
