Hi staff,
I had a thought I wanted to share about staff sync when it's your turn to lead.
Since, every one of us is smart and has learned lessons from experience and mistakes. I want to encourage us to take advantage of the opportunity of leading staff sync and look at it as a chance to help one another by sharing our own experiences (many are already doing this, but just wanted to include all on it).
It's totally fine to not prepare anything for staff sync...but maybe after you gave it some good thought and concluded you didn't have anything to share for that week.
I would love for us to look at it as an opportunity to help us all rather than a task to be completed. I know we have a lot to offer one another and to residents...and staff sync is the perfect opportunity for those little equipping moments.
I know prep time is a concern so I'd recommend not waiting to think about it til right before your turn to lead.
What I personally do is:
- When an topic/idea pops in my head that would be good for staff sync, I create a word document
- As further thoughts come in my head, I just make sure to jot them in there
- When it's my turn to do staff sync and I think I got something good, I'll spend some time organizing the thoughts.
If it wasn't ready I likely would not have anything to go through for staff sync (which again is fine).
For what it's worth...I think the topic is best when it's something that you have personal experience and have seen your ideas work (i.e. Steve Von Fange sells me on just about anything because he says "I've used this technique for 35 years and it works." Immediately that has a lot of validity to it that should be taken seriously).
Don't feel pressure to research something that you are unfamiliar with just to teach a topic at staffsync. It works better when you can draw from personal expertise.
Just wanted to encourage you to be thinking about staff sync and perhaps see it a little differently if necessary.
Thanks,
Chris
