The College believes in empowering women through holistic education by its systematic and focused course of action. The college has laid platform for numerous talents of our students. The students actively participate in the Inter department sports competitions every year in Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Kabaddi, Throwball, Cricket, Shuttle Badminton, Ball Badminton, Carom and Chess. The college has always encouraged sports and has produced many a national, state-level, district-level or University-level champion. Students have responded increasingly every year and have risen to top spots upto the national level.

NATIONAL LEVEL ACHIEVEMENT :

R.Nandini of I-MA History represented Madras university Cricket team in the south zone inter university cricket tournament and won bronze medal

H.Vaishnavi of I English Lit. Represented Madras University in the all India Inter University shuttle badminton tournament.

STATE LEVEL ACHIEVEMENT :

The college volleyball team entered semi-finals in the chief minister trophy, state level volleyball tournament organized by queen Mary's college during the monthof September

The college basketball team entered semi finals Madras University A-Zonal tournament.

The college chess team consisting of R.Amrutha II-M.com, DivyaMeena III-Computer Science, Pavithra I AZBT, Meenakshi IE1, Lalitha I E2 secured 3rd place out of 20 colleges in the Madras University A-Zonal chess tournament.

The college badminton team consisting of Vaishnavi I English Lit. ,Anusha III E2, Trinethra III E2, Bhagyalakshmi I B.com CS, Niveditha IIIE2 secured 3rd place in the Madras University A-Zonal badminton tournament.

The following players were selected for the University of Madras inter zonal tournament due to their outstanding performance in the A-Zonal tournaments.

Second II Place in the Madras University ‘A’ Zone Chess competition held at M.O.P Vaishnav College.

R.Amrutha and S.Divya meena Ranked number I & II and selected to Represent Madras University ‘A’ Zone team in the Inter Zonal Chess competition held at Loyola College.

Basket Ball

The college Basketball team entered Semi-final in the Madras University A-Zone Basket Ball tournament, due to outstanding performance A.Suganthi of III yr. Mathematics and Y.Mohana Priya of II B.Com were selected to represent Madras University A-Zone team.

R.Abinaya was selected to represent Madras University A-Zone Ball Badminton team.

State Level Shooting Championship

L.N.Vidhya Pritha of IIB.Com won -

  • Gold Medal in Junior Women Pistol Event

  • Silver Medal in IST - 40-10m Air Pistol

  • Silver Medal in T40 – 10m Air Pistol

in the 38th TamilNadu State Level Shooting Championship 2012 held at Madurai from 15th Aug to 19th Aug 2012.

SPorts Day 2012-2013

The College conducted Annual Sports Day on 22nd Sep 2012 at the College Cricket Ground. PMJF Lion .Dr.T.A.S.Ramamurthy, District Governor, 324 A1 was the Chief Guest and took the March Past Solute. Students participated in the Maximum events and showed their outstanding skill in March- Past Competitions, Physical Demonstration completion, Martial arts like Silambam and ‘Ju-jitsu’, Patriotic Physical Demonstration by the evening college Students.

The finals of the Athletic events took place.

The overall championship won by B.Com E2 and 3 students shared the Individual Championship with equal points.

  1. Madras University level Chess : Our College chess team participated in the Madras University ‘A’ Zone Inter Collegiate chess tournament held at Kumararani Meena Muthiah College, Adyar and the team emerged WINNERS.

L.N.Vidhya Preetha of I B.Com participated in the 37th State Level Shooting Championship held at Dr.B.Sivanthi Aditiyan Shooting Championship held at Egmore, Chennai.

She won

    • Gold in 10m Air Pistol

    • Silver in 10m Youth Category

    • Bronze in Women’s Category

National Level Achievements

S.Suja of III yr. BBM represented TamilNadu team in the National Level Soft Ball tournament held at Hyderabad from 17th to 22nd Jan 2011.

March Past

In the 44th Dr.Sir.A.L.akshmanaSwamy Mudaliar Athletic Meet, our college March-Past team consist of 35 students participated in the March Past competition held for city colleges and the team won Runner-up trophy due to the outstanding co-ordination and skill delivered.

Sports Day 2011-2012

The College Sports Day was held on 30.01.2012 at College Cricket Ground. Shri. P.Madasamy, Deputy Superintendent of Police was the Chief Guest and took the March Past Salute. The Inter Department March Past Competition made Sports Day very colour full, 150 Students participated in the ‘Pyramid’ Physical Demonstration exhibited the outstanding skill and co-ordination. The Finals of the Athletics Trade Events also held in front of the audience. The Overall Championship for the year 2011-2012 is won by B.Com Corporate Secretaryship Department and the Individual Championship is bagged by S.Sudhanandhini of II yr. Chemistry.
