1. The Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology department association meet was inaugurated on 08.07.2019 by Dr.S.Mathivanan,Director,CAS in Botany ,University of
Madras and Dr.Damotharan,Head, Dept of Piant Biology and Plant Biotechnology,Presidency college, Chennai presided over the function
2. The old student reunion was held on 03/08/2019 in the department where the retired staff members and the batches of 1980 till 2010 students visited the
alma mater and shared their professional experiences.
3. Meenakshi Subramanian and Swarnalekha. S of III B.Sc PBPBT attended the “Hands on training on Techniques in Plant Sciences” from 5th – 8th August 2019 in
Science City in association with University of Madras.
4. The students of the department visited the single teacher schools at Periyaputheri and Thiruvadisoolam of Kancheepuram District on 15-09-2019. The school
children were motivated to take up higher education by our students and distributed the stationary items. On the same day, the III B.Sc students collected the plant
specimens for their herbarium and also studied the habitat and morphology of different families.
5. To remember the contributions and achievements of our late President Dr. A P J. Abdul Kalam, on 21-09-2019 the department students also exhibited the models
and charts of his technological innovations, quotes and his life history.
6. The certificate courses :
Herbal Technology related Bioinstrumentation (from-24/06/2019 to 05/07/2019) forII B.Sc
Mushroom Cultivation (from-02/12/2019 to 12/12/2019) for II and III B.Sc students was conducted in the department.
7. Five students were selected from III B.Sc and were taken to the Barclay’s industrial visit on 11/12/2019.
8. One day seminar on Impact of novel biology in human health was organised by the biological sciences department on 13.12.2019 in which the students presented
their project papers.
