Research Code of Ethics

  • Papers that have been presented/ published by research scholars are stringently checked for originality and genuineness.

    • All M.Phil. dissertations and Ph.D. theses are carefully scrutinised for plagiarism with software such as Shodhganga, Urkund, www.plagiarism.net, Plagiarism Checker or Viper Plagiarism Checker.

  • Only the papers are published in UGC recognized peer reviewed journals are accepted.

Policy for Promotion of Research

The Mission of the College commits to creating a stimulating environment for research and development. To realize this end on a continuous basis, the Research Coordination Committee was formed in June 2004 to formulate, promote and implement research activity in the College.

Further to this, Meenakshi Sundararajan Research Centre (MSRC) was established in December 2004. The Meenakshi Sundararajan Research Center is headed by Dr. V. Meenakshisundaram, a distinguished Physicist and Former Head, Radiation Safety Section, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu. Mr. J. Punniyakotti, who joined the centre as Junior Research Fellow, worked on his PhD while working as JRF, and has now completed his Ph.D. Meenakshi Sundararajan Research Centre in the Institution extends support for research work.

All research-related policies, schemes and activities are co-ordinated by the Research Coordination Committee.

The following are the responsibilities of the College to promote research:

  • Faculty members of the College are to be motivated to pursue research degrees starting with M.Phil. and Ph.D. and to publish their research.

  • Any guidance required by Faculty members in their research-related pursuits needs to be given or arranged for.

  • Departments should organize national and international conferences and workshops to keep themselves and the students in the know about the latest research in various subjects in their field.

  • Departments should conduct seminars/workshops to expose students to presentations by experts and to interact with them to learn about research.

  • Faculty members should be encouraged to attend workshops and seminars conducted by research institutions, higher educational institutions and industry to update their knowledge and be acquainted with the latest research trends.

  • Faculty members should be encouraged to participate in conferences to present papers and participate in research-related conferences.

  • Faculty members should be encouraged to publish in UGC-recognized peer-reviewed journals as a benchmark for the quality of research work done.

  • The College Library, the main library in the College, should be equipped with the latest books and journals.

  • The Library should make available to all staff and students, e-resources through NLIST membership, etc., to pursue research work.

  • The Library should maintain the research papers published by Faculty members.

  • The Library should preserve the Ph.D. theses of Faculty members in hard copy or digital form.

  • The necessary computer and software tools, and access to databases, etc., should be provided to Departments for the Faculty members to pursue their research work.

  • The institution should facilitate the application for grants for major and minor research projects work and motivate teachers to take them up.

  • Even if the release of funds is delayed from the funding agency, the College Management should make sure that the project is proceeding on schedule so that stagnation of the research work due to lack of funds is prevented.

  • Faculty should be encouraged to undertake guideship for M.Phil. and Ph.D.

  • Students at all levels, including undergraduate and postgraduate, should be incentivised to involve themselves in research work, for the seeds of interest in research are best sown early.

  • Memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with eminent research institutions and industry should be implemented so that Faculty members and students have more avenues to gain deeper levels of knowledge about a field, and can also interact with scientists and innovators.
