The NSF GRFP is the National science foundation graduate research fellowship proposal.
This national fellowship funds you in your graduate career and can be applied to as either a new graduate student or a undergraduate who is going to graduate school. Big bucks for relatively little work, though know that is very competitive. This proposal is normally due in the fall around October. Make sure you if you are interested in applying you start working on it well in advanced and let Ehren know so he can set time aside to help you and write you necessary recommendation.
For more information always check the NSF GRFP website as things such as due dates or what is expected as this can change from year to year.

Attached below this information is files from the 2017 graduate student introduction class which contains examples of winning proposals as well as lecture slides on various tips and other helpful information. Always double check with the website or Ehren to make sure your proposal is not being written in a way that is out of date which could disqualify you at worst or make your proposal less competitive for funding at best.
