Alvie Primary School used one of the Chromebooks and Google Hangouts to connect with a school in Glasgow! It worked perfectly and the pupils enjoyed learning about other classes in Scotland. Pictures to follow.
A GEG Member posted about some tips for using Google Hangouts - link here
We started off doing some trial hangouts in some schools just between staff. Later in the week we had a CPD session delivered for all Principal Teachers of Science in the Dingwall education training centre by hangout, we didn't broadcast this online for anyone else to join in...but we could of! We were able to use the screen share function and post links for the group of science teachers. The pic to the left is Katie Elder, Curriculum Area Development Officer for Science who said the Google Hangouts worked brilliantly.
This week has all been about the Hangout! Google Hangouts is a feature for the Chromebook users and anyone using the Chrome Browser and phone apps, so effectively it is a tool that we can use on any device in Highland. It is free to use and you can hangout with someone in our own domain and also anywhere on the web. User settings can be restricted for pupils if required.
