This week we have been designing a sample e-portfolio using Google sites, these are customisable sites that can be shared privately, with selected viewers or even publicly. More about Google Sites here. This Highland Chrome Pilot website is a Google Site too. It's a free tool that comes as part of our Google Apps for Education Highland domain. It's therefore available to any staff and pupils with an account. They are very easy to use and you can add files / attachments and most importantly embed clips and presentations.
E-Portfolios are a way for a learner to collate and showcase examples of their learning, their achievements and also link to online diaries. The E-Portfolio can be a template we design with key areas for demonstrating learning but also can be stylised by the learner (background and colours etc) to reflect their personality and have ownership to the site. Check the Health and Wellbeing section where you can use a phone or manually enter activities!
Please note, it's a work in progress and as we consult and share this sample site with pupils, parents, staff and Highland colleagues we hope to develop it further.
Thank you in particular to Kingussie High School staff and Head Teacher Ollie Bray. Click on the image above or the link here to see the sample.
