Week 5

What happened this week

During the 5th week we worked a lot. Our focus was to implement even more functionality while writing also tests for existing functionality and improve the overall system. We implemented a Kanban system, a wish of Swisscom. You can define different rows and add new cards as well as shift the cards from a row to another. It's similar to Trello, is a free web-based project management application, and it enables the Swisscom to manage qFactory related tasks directly on the dashboard application. Another main point was to create the homepage, which acts as a dashboard, and shows a live overview of the whole ecosystem.

On our weekly meeting at Wednesday with Swisscom we were able to demonstrate a prototype of the homepage and a lot more components. The feedback was very positive. Sadly, the project owner has not available to us, so we had the meeting with his partner. We have been exited about the feedback of the project owner and it have been glad to have his input for the oncoming week.

Core issue

We finally met the core issue of nearly any project. There is scope, cost and time. Cost is easy, there is none. Time is easy too, we leave no matter what happens on Friday next week. So there was scope. We practiced these little stand-up meetings Swisscom told us about every day within our project team. And we realized, that it's going to be hard to fulfill any requirement until next Wednesday, the last day we should write code. So we discussed the priority of the tasks. We split up that Florian and Isabella worked on functionality and Christian worked on unit and functional testing of the client application.

What is going to happen next week

We are now building and finishing the last components. The major point for the last few days is to write tests and to finish the Dashboard page. Deadline for coding is still the 21. of October. On this day we will have also our last weekly meeting with Swisscom.

Additionally to finish the project we have to write a management summary and create slides for the final presentation in a week.
